Whoever said the only time you can make a change is on January 1 was misinformed. January may be almost over BUT that doesn’t mean that your chance to start your goals is! It’s NEVER too late to start. Here are some ways to jump start your 2025.

  1. Organization Products to Stand on Business

If you are on social media everyone is “standing on business.” Don’t you just want to have an eye roll when you hear these new phrases sometimes?! Organizing starts with keeping a good schedule. We are everywhere from work, the gym, grocery store, and more. As we step into a reset, honor yourself by honoring your time. Often our goals are within reach, but we miss our own blessings. So, keep your schedule but keep it in style and practical.

Here are a few suggestions for both digital and traditional planners:

2. Stationary to add to your space

I know we are texting, but I want to challenge you to choose one person a month and send a handwritten letter. One of the things that makes people smile during a hard time is knowing what they are being thought of. From pens, letterhead, or simply a beautiful card I want you to really make it your priority to spread love. I personally keep a beautifully decorated box full of cards. The reason is simple, someone will get sick, need comfort, or need to be celebrated.

3. Back to Gym Basics

Some of us are intimidated by the thought of the gym. There are times when going to the gym isn’t feasible. I want to encourage you to get fit and healthy so you can enjoy your time in this world.

Here are some Black fitness gurus to follow and try.

4. For the girlies who love a lil lingerie…

One of the ways of starting off a new year is to add some new undergarments. One of Philly's own is Expect Lace. Located at 4403 Main Street from founder Shaw Lewis. This is your personalized touch to lingerie and undergarments from all facets of curves and more. Find more from them on their Instagram, Facebook, and website.

5. Upgrade Your Workout Clothes

People say that you should workout in anything that you have. They are right when it comes to eliminating excuses. So many of us know that we want to look good as we get healthy. So many of us have curves that make it a struggle to find quality workout clothes. Of course you can get things at stores like Five Below, Target, Walmart and other stores! Make sure you add a few black owned fitness clothes too!

6. Find Wellness Spaces

One of the upticks in 2024 was curating wellness spaces. This means the places you can go to enhance your wellness from self-care and mindfulness. One of Philly's own is Yowie. It is a hotel, shop, and cafe right here in Philadelphia. They have it all. Featuring so many amazing black and brown artists. Guests can expect to be blown away in care and leave with great reset and items from their shop. So think jewelry, clothing, journals and books and more. It really is a one stop shop.

7. Treat yourself!

We are not our hair but when we want to look and feel our best, we know that there are many amazing places in Philadelphia to address just that.

From natural to braids and everything in between add a few of our Philly beloved salons to the list.

Finally, some New Year’s Advice…

Remember to take some time to reflect. What worked for you last year? Do more of that into the New Year. Instead of beating yourself about what you didn’t accomplish, focus on how you can be refocused on the New Year. We all have things on our to-do list that feel unaccomplished. Don’t allow yourself to be overwhelmed with failures. Use them to motivate you into a new joyful path of expectation. Close out the year in reflection, grace, and expectation of the newness that is to come.
